An odd privilege of life
In the shadow of a cliff.

Bears repeating every evening,
Merciful in summer, cruel
After some strange line
In the late afternoons of fall.
Sunset before the sun sets,
And the far cliffs gloat
With red that will suffer
Darkness late into the morning.
